Well, one half of our Halloween was extremely successful... the other half was not! Wednesday night we had a trunk or treat at church. I had been looking forward to taking Noah to it for a long time. Unfortunately my unpredictable two year old did not share the same enthusiasm that I did about it.
It all started with the precious tractor that my dad made for Noah. He worked for days gluing boxes together, spray painting them green and creating a fantastic John Deer tractor. Noah loved looking at it, but did not want to wear it! So we let him parade around in overalls and a John Deer shirt while Greg carried a big tractor around all night. This would not have been a problem had our child not decided that he would throw himself down on the concrete screaming at a pitch that I was sure only a dog could hear every time we tried to take two steps. Ughhh.... It was just one of those nights. After about an hour Greg and I came to the unanimous decision to ABORT!
After such a disastrous night I figured I might as well hang it up for Halloween. Once again my two year old surprised me! Greg and I retired the homemade tractor and replaced it with his actual ride-on John Deer. Well this made the child extremely happy. So we rode from house to house, ringing every door bell. He would grin and say Twick ow tweat. Then like the little angel he can sometimes be he would follow up by sweetly saying Tank eww and running quickly back to his tractor. After an hour and half of this he did get tired, but hey he's two!
Overall it was a learning experience. What did I learn? That two year olds are just plain unpredictable... especially mine.
